Planning a senior portrait session includes a lot of details. What should I wear? What time of day is best? Where’s the best location? When it was time to plan Elijah’s basketball park senior portraits – we put all of those elements together to capture an amazing story!

Telling a senior basketball story can be a pretty easy task to complete. Many seniors will request their school’s team jersey and schedule a time on the court where they practiced and played throughout their high school careers.

But Elijah and I wanted to do something a little bit different. We headed over to the neighborhood park at sunset to capture some outdoor on-location images.

I loved the light of the setting sun, and the vibrant Florida colors of the trees that surrounded the park. So my photographer’s heart was happy. But I also loved the gritty surface of the outdoor basketball court. Such a fun spot for senior story images!

Planning a Basketball Park Senior Story Vibe

When planning a senior portrait session, the location is important. But there are loads of other things that go into creating an amazing senior story. And Elijah covered them all. Here are a couple of tips from Elijah’s session that will help you to plan your own senior story:

• Don’t forget your props! In Elijah’s case, a basketball was 100% necessary to tell his story.
• Plan your wardrobe. Elijah’s graphic tee and ripped jeans perfectly conveyed the vibe he was shooting for with the outdoor basketball park senior portraits story.
• Aim for the right time of day. We hit the park at exactly the right time to have the court mostly to ourselves, and Elijah loved it.
• Bring your mom! That last photo with your mom before your session ends is a perfect memory.

I always say that your senior portrait session is as much a memory as the rest of your senior year. So treat it like its own special event and lets have fun! You will love having these portrait memories to treasure.
